An uncle behind bars for attempted murder

The Police in Hoedspruit arrested a 49-year-old male suspect for the murder of his nephew and attempted murder of an unknown man. The Police received information about a murder incident that occurred in Sedawa village.

Limpopo Police Spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said upon arrival at the scene, they found a 29-year-old man lying dead on the street with multiple injuries. “Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was stabbed with an unknown object by his uncle during a heated argument”.

Ledwaba said on the same night, the same murder suspect, allegedly found an unknown man coming from a local tavern with his friends and he then stabbed him and fled the scene. “The victim who was severely injured was taken to the local hospital”.

He added that the suspect was traced and arrested on Tuesday 01 August 2023 around  Sedawa village and he will appear before the Hoedspruit Magistrate’s Court on Thursday 03 August, facing charges of murder and attempted murder.

Meanwhile, Limpopo Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, applauded the team of Investigators for their diligent work in arresting and bringing the perpetrator to book.

Police investigations are continuing.
