A 30-year-old suspect is expected to appear before Randburg Magistrate Court on Monday, 31 July 2023, facing a charge of murder. This is after the Police’s thorough investigation led to the arrest of the boyfriend after the body of Mahlaku Malebo Rabalao was found burned inside the car in Midrand. The suspect, aged 30, was traced and arrested in KwaZulu-Natal on Friday, 28 July 2023, after a warrant of arrest was issued against him.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said on the 7th March 2023 at about 21h00, police received a call about a burning vehicle in Midrand. “On their arrival, police found a Mercedes Benz that was on fire. After the fire was extinguished, human remains were found in the front seat of the car”.
Masondo said the Police immediately conducted an investigation, and the deceased was identified. “During the investigation, it transpired that the deceased was killed and burnt inside the vehicle, and the suspect is her boyfriend”.
Meanwhile, Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant, General Elias Mawela, welcomed this arrest and applauded the investigation team that worked so hard to bring the suspect to book.
