The DA in Gauteng will stage a picket outside the Minister of Employment and Labour’s office in Pretoria. The picket is part of the DA’s campaign to oppose the ANC’s racist and discriminatory weaponisation of Employment Equity Act regulations to impose job race quotas.

The DA said it is deeply concerned about the ANC’s recent decision to resurrect “racist zombie” policies of the apartheid era and effectively ban the employment of coloured people in large parts of South Africa. This is not only discriminatory but also threatens to exacerbate unemployment and poverty. “The DA believes in a South Africa where opportunities are based on hard work, skill, and ingenuity. But the ANC is determined to recreate the worst employment rules of our country’s past by reintroducing pencil tests and the racial division that the ANC once opposed”.

The opposition party added that the picket will feature speeches from DA leaders, including Solly Msimanga, Federal DASO Leader Liam Jacobs, and Patrick Atkinson MPL. They will speak about the effects of race quotas on our economy and the importance of ending this discriminatory practice.

Following the speeches, the DA leadership will hand over a memorandum to the Minister of Employment and Labour’s office.
