A young man died in a mob attack

The Police in Mokwakwaila are investigating a murder case resulting from a mob attack incident, wherein a 24-year-old man was assaulted with various objects until he died, allegedly by community members at Pelana Village, on Thursday 04 May 2023 at about 23h00.

Limpopo Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the Police received an alert about community members who were assaulting a person at the said village. “They rushed to the scene together with emergency personnel and found the victim lying in a pool of blood with severe injuries. He was then rushed to a local hospital where he died on arrival”.

Ledwaba said the reason behind his attack and subsequent killing is still not clear at this stage but further Police investigations will reveal.

Meanwhile, the Limpopo Police Acting Commissioner Major General Jan Scheepers has warned community members against vigilante behaviour. “Police should be entrusted with any sort of information as they are trained to deal with criminals.”
