A 48-year-old woman from Olievenhoutbosch, Paulinah Mothokoa Monyebodi, appeared in the Pretoria Magistrates` Court on Friday. She is facing a charge of premeditated murder, for allegedly killing her husband.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana said it is alleged that on 18 April 2023, in the morning, the accused approached a man unknown to her on the street and asked them to stay with her and her husband at their home for free.
“She told him she has a problem and mentioned that she poisoned her husband four days prior and needed his help to dig a ditch and bury the dead body because the husband’s body has been laying in the house for some days”.
Mahanjana added that in response to her request, the male person pretended to agree to the request but rather went to report the matter to the police. “Later that day Monyebodi was arrested after the man pointed her out to the police”.
The case is remanded to 28 April 2023, for further investigations in respect of her bail application.
