Two illicit cigarettes smugglers to appear in court

The Police in Limpopo arrested two suspects and confiscated of Illegal Cigarettes. According to information received, members of SAPS Limpopo Flying Squad were on routine patrol duties when they reacted to the information that led to the arrest of two suspects aged 21 and 35 along Thabo Mbeki Drive , Mokopane on Saturday 2023-04-01.

Limpopo Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the team members received information about a Silver Mercedes Benz transporting illicit cigarettes driving from Polokwane along  R101 road. “The vehicle fitting the depiction was seen in Mokopane along Thabo Mbeki Drive. It is alleged that the Police attempted to stop the said vehicle ( Mercedes Benz) and after it neglected to stop a vehicle pursuit resulted.  It appears that in the process the driver of Mercedes Benz vehicle lost control and hit the wall and stopped”.

Colonel Ledwaba said that subsequently they were cornered and arrested for being in possession of illicit cigarettes.

The suspects will appear before Mokopane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 03 April 2023 for possession of Illegal Cigarettes as well as resisting arrest.
