Forum 4 Service Delivery (F4SD) North West has strongly condemned the decision taken by the North West government and the organisers to host the media launch of the prestigious Mahika Mahikeng Cultural Festival in Gauteng while the event will be staged in North West.
F4SD North West Chairperson Sechaba Sekhoto said since the inception of this music festival, there has been uncertainty surrounding this celebration. “This event is supposed to benefit the people of the North West and not a product to benefit greedy cadres”.
Sekhoto added that F4SD struggles to understand why the launch had to be taken to Sandton while this can still be experienced in the capital city. “When this concept was launched, the aim was to change the image of the North West Province, create jobs and to give local businesses a boost.
We view this decision as a way of undermining people of North West, local media and business people who will be left out during the launch” adding that there is no transparency in this event ever since it was initiated.
“As Forum 4 Service Delivery, we are now starting to question the procedure and connections that were used to allocate the tender. We call people and Media of North West to boycott this event in their numbers’’ reiterated Sekhoto.
