The anti-crime farm recovered 344 kilograms of dagga worth about R1 387 702 Million in street value in a farm outside Delmas on Monday, 20 February 2023 around 03h00 am. The report indicates that members from the farm watch were visiting their counterparts when they noticed three vehicles inside the maize field.

Mpumalanga Police Spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said when members of anti-crime drew closer to the vehicles to investigate, two bakkies (LDV) are said to have sped off, leaving a blue Ford SUV behind. “As they approached the SUV and knocked on the window of the car, its driver somehow opened the door and fled the scene on foot leaving the vehicle behind”.

Mohlala said when the car was inspected, it is reported that members discovered 31 bags fully loaded with dagga. Police were contacted and the dagga as well as the vehicle were confiscated.

Further investigation is ongoing to establish vehicle ownership.
