A 38-year-old man, Saame Mogogane is expected to re-appear in the Atamelang Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 22 February 2023. Mogogane made his first appearance on Monday, 20 February 2023ron a charge of murder.
He was arrested following an incident reported on Wednesday, 15 February 2023 at Tlapeng Village in Madibogo. It is alleged that the child’s mother left him under the care of the husband (the child’s step-father) whilst at work.
Captain Aafje Botma of North West Police said when the woman arrived home the same day at about 18:10, she found her son laying unresponsive on the bed with multiple injuries on his body. “Emergency Medical and Rescue Services (EMRS) were summoned to the scene and they declared the two-year-old boy dead on the scene. The step-father fled from the scene”.
North West Police Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, expressed his shock to learn of the cruel murder of such a young child.
