The Police at Masisi in the Vhembe District have launched a manhunt for the suspect(s) after the local Headman, Takalani Andries Gumbu of Gumbu village was gunned down in front of his house on Sunday night,12 February 2023.

The victim aged 40,  reportedly arrived home at about 22:00 on Sunday and soon after getting out of his motor vehicle, he was shot and killed by unknown suspect(s) who fled the scene on foot soon after the incident.

Limpopo Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlalefa Mojapelo said the Police were called and on arrival, the victim was found lying in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds. “He was certified dead on the scene”.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered that a team of investigators comprising members of the Provincial murder and robbery unit visit the scene and immediately assist in the unfolding investigations.

“The suspects must be hunted down and brought to book. We call on community members with information to come forward”.
