A 50-year-old Captain Juan Oosthuizen is expected to reappear before the Brits magistrate’s court on Wednesday, 15 February 2023, for a formal bail application. Oostenhuisen, who is remanded in custody, appeared before the same court on Thursday, 9 February 2023, on a charge of theft.
North West Police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said the Captain attached to the Brits Visible Policing, was allegedly caught on Saturday afternoon, 4 February 2023, draining diesel out of the tank of a parked state vehicle. “Consequent to the investigation by the Provincial Anti-Corruption Investigation Unit (ACIU), the member was arrested on Wednesday, 8 February 2023”.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, commended the Provincial Anti-Corruption Investigation Unit members for putting behind bars unethical employees who tarnish the image of the Service.
