Power Utility Eskom confirmed that the South African National Defence Force members will be deployed at some Eskom power stations. Eskom received deployments at 4 sites on Saturday afternoon – Majuba, Camden, Grootvlei and Tutuka power stations.
This follows several incidents of theft and sabotage at various power stations. The country has now been plunged into stage six power cuts. As a result, small businesses are continuing to suffer.
Eskom has made several key arrests in recent months related to the theft of coal, and diesel and one case of active sabotage.
