The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Gauteng says it noted with triviality the resignation of David Makhura as Premier of the province. “This resignation comes as a consequence of a power shift and factional consolidation within the ruling Party in the province and has nothing to do with the betterment of lives in the province”. On Tuesday, 04 October 2022 Makhura tendered his resignation.
EFF Gauteng Provincial Chairperson Nkululeko Dunga said since his ascendency to office in 2014, Makhura has done nothing to better the conditions of the people of Gauteng. “Instead, we have seen the introduction of the E-toll system which the ANC government in Gauteng has failed to eradicate despite the general discontent of motorists that travel within the province. The standard of roads in the province has also worsened”.
Dunga added that over 2.5 million Gauteng residents remain unemployed and even more are getting discouraged in searching for jobs. Gauteng is rapidly losing its status as the economic hub of the continent in general and the country in particular. “The rise of xenophobic sentiments is a result of the lack of economic development and activities within the province”.
Meanwhile, President Cyril Ramphosa said Gauteng Education MEC, Panyaza Lesufi is the right man for the job.
