The African National Congress (ANC) in Limpopo on Tuesday welcomed the judgement made by the Pretoria High Court in the case between Lephalale Mayor(Alpheus Thulare) vs ANC Limpopo and others wherein the Mayor of Lephalale Municipality brought an urgent application against his redeployment.
The urgent application was struck off the roll with costs. The judgment vindicates the position taken by the ANC Limpopo in that ANC representatives in Council are serving at the behest of the Party, and the Judgment further confirms the correctness that the Party reserves the right to redeploy its members or representatives as and when it is necessary to do so.
ANC Limpopo Spokesperson Jimmy Machaka called upon all representatives of the ANC at all levels to refrain from using courts against their deployment or redeployment, instead, make use of organisational available internal processes where they are aggrieved.
“The ANC is expecting the Mayor of Lephalale – Alpheus Thulare to relinquish his position as the Mayor with Immediate effect and in the event he persists with his defiance conduct, ANC representatives deployed to Lephalale Council will be required to file a Motion of no Confidence against the Mayor”.
