Four accused, Norton Carld Howard (43), Charles Moses Howard (56), Jezeral Selvin (39) and Kenshia Charlene Howard (36) made a brief appearance before the Kuruman Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday facing charges of fraud.

It is alleged that in April 2010, Howard fraudulently used Kallies Business Enterprise CC credentials to bid for a tender advertised by Anglo American which is Kathu Khumba Iron Ore. As a result of misrepresentation, he was awarded the tender for plant maintenance.

Northern Cape Hawks Tebogo Thebe said it is further alleged that in August 2018, Howard made a misrepresentation to CIPC. “He submitted another fraudulent resolution to CIPC that the members of Kallies Enterprise resigned. As a result, the membership of the close corporation was amended where the father and siblings of the suspect were added as new members of the entity. The predijuce to the complainant is R61 million”.

Norton was granted R50 000 bail whereas the other accused were released on R30 000 bail each. The matter is postponed to 3 November 2022 for further investigation.
