A 22-year-old driver of a Toyota quantum was charged for overloading by the Provincial Traffic Authorities on Friday morning in Moruleng. The driver loaded 35 learner’s, aged 14 to 16 in a 16 seater vehicle. He was also charged for operating the vehicle contrary to the terms and conditions of the operating licence.
Acting Chief Director for Transport Regulations in North West Paul Stone said the driver is transporting learner’s without a scholar operating licence nor is he contracted by the department, therefore charged for non-compliance to the National Land Transport Act. “The overloading and usage of public transport vehicles contrary to the legislation will always be dealt with harshly and any driver found to the contrary will be dealt without any mercy
