African National Congress (ANC) is mourning the passing of Deputy Secretary General Jessie Duarte. She passed away during the early hours of Sunday, 17 July 2022. ANC Spokesperson Pule Mabe said the passing of Duarte is a great loss, not only to the family but to the democratic movement and the country as a whole.
“She dedicated her life to the struggle for a united South Africa”. She will be buried this afternoon in Johannesburg. She was 68 years old and is survived by her children, grandchildren, siblings and extended family.
Meanwhile, ActionSA President Herman Mashaba sent his condolences to Duarte family. Mashaba said Duarte can be credited with establishing the ANC Women’s league alongside the late Albertina Sisulu.
