Four accused Cornelis Johannes Uys (60) ,Cornelis Johannes Albertus Uys (23) ,Carlos Bernardo Guambe (34) and Gabriel Bernardo Guambe (32) appeared before the Belfast Magistrate Court on Monday 11 July 2022 for trafficking in persons.
Mpumalanga Hawks spokesperson Dineo Sekgotodi said the two, Guambes, Mozambican brothers, were also charged with contravention of the immigration Act. “The bail application against the two brothers was abandoned and accused remanded in custody. Their case was postponed to 18 July 2022 for interpreter and plea”.
Sekgotodi said the bail application against the other two accused, a father and son, Cornelis and Albertus Uys was argued by the defence and the case was postponed to Tuesday 12 July 2022 for a further bail hearing. The accused are remanded in custody.
