A 24 year old woman, Luzinda Abrahams made a brief appearance at Randburg Magistrate facing charges of trafficking in persons and fraud. Abrahams was arrested on Monday, 06 June 2022 by the Hawks Serious Organized Crime Investigation team in Upington after an intensive investigation.
Northern Cape Hawks spokesperson Captain Tebogo Thebe said it is alleged that victims were lured from Upington to Sandton and they were used for prostitution. “Three victims have since been rescued from Sandton. It is further alleged that the suspect did unlawfully, falsely and with intent to defraud and to the prejudice of Clockwork properties forge a document in writing”.
The case against Abrahams is postponed to Thursday, 09 June 2022, where she will join her co-accused Uzoaga Obinna Emmanuel (33) and Okwudili James Okwudili (35).
