The Ministry of Justice and Correctional Services confirmed on Monday that it has received information from law enforcement authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that fugitives of justice, namely, Rajesh and Atul Gupta have been arrested.
Justice Ministry Spokesperson Chrispin Phiri said the discussions between various law enforcement agencies in the UAE and South Africa on the way forward are ongoing. “The South African government will continue to co-operate with the UAE”.
The Gupta family, now based in Dubai fled South Africa following Jacob Zuma’s loss of power over the ANC.
It is alleged that the Gupta brother’s fraud corruption cost R250 billion from SA’s taxpayers.
