A 29-year-old female appeared in the Kimberley Magistrate Court for possession of drugs. She was arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team on 09 May 2022, for possession of dagga worth approximately R140 000.
Northern Cape Hawks Spokesperson Tebogo Thebe said the police received information about a delivery of dagga from Johannesburg to Kimberley and information was operationalised. “The members searched an identified minibus taxi and dagga weighing 2.80kg was found in a travel bag.”
Thebe said upon interviewing the suspect, it was established that the suspect is in the country illegally. She was further charged with contravention of Immigration Act. The drugs were seized for further investigation.
The case is remanded to 18 May 2022 for further investigation.
