Grade 6 learner stabbed to death by a fellow learner

Free State Education MEC, Dr Tate Makgoe has expressed shock after a grade 6 boy learner from  Zama Primary School in Zastron was allegedly stabbed to death by a fellow grade 6 boy learner with a knife. The incident happened after school on Wednesday outside the school premises.

Howard Ndaba of Freee State Education said a brawl broke out between the boys in the morning at the school, after the suspect allegedly bullied and attempted to stab the now deceased learners with a spoon. “The suspect was instructed by the school Principal to go home to bring his parents, but he came back with a knife which he used to stab the deceased in the chest.”

Ndaba said one teacher took the victim into her car to the hospital but unfortunately on her way the learner was certified dead. “The suspect who had initially fled the scene was later handed over by the community members to the Police.”

MEC Makgoe said they condemned the violent behaviour which led to the death of a learner. The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.
