The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) says it is shocked and horrified at the trend of looting shops, trucks, and other businesses, which is seems to be taking root in certain parts of KwaZulu-Natal.
Member of IFP National Executive Committee Joshua Mazibuko said it is disgraceful that amid the utter devastation caused by floods, and the ensuing mayhem, loss, death and tears, hooligans see an opportunity to engage in such heartless acts of looting. “No measure of poverty, destitution or unemployment could justify these acts of theft and looting. These hooligans are a scourge to and enemies of society.”
Mazibuko reiterated that through these acts, these hooligans are attacking the very economy that must be resuscitated and grown to accommodate and uplift millions of people who live in poverty.
“We call on the law enforcement agencies to hunt down and lock up these criminals. In addition, all South Africans of good sense must condemn these plunderers and assist law enforcement agencies to identify and arrest them.”
