Minister Motshekga’s planned introduction of Coding and Robotics in schools applauded

Education activist Hendrick Makaneta has congratulated Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga and her team for deciding to introduce Coding and Robotics in all schools following a successful pilot program. Makeneta said the introduction of Coding and Robotics as subjects in schools will certainly go a long way to boost learning and teaching and prepare learners for the changing world of work.

“It should be very clear at this point that the recent Basic Lekgotla was instrumental in paving a way towards a modernized curriculum that has the capacity to respond to challenges of the 21st century”.

Makeneta reiterated that What is now required is for institutions of higher learning to adjust their pedagogy and enable more student teachers to be trained on how to teach Coding and Robotics to our learners.

“We have always called for the transformation of our education system and position it to produce learners who will have the skills to survive in the mainstream economy. This initiative by the Minister has responded to our calls”.
