Gauteng Health department dismisses reports of food shortage at Baragwanath Hospital

The Gauteng Department of Health (GDoH) on Thursday dismissed reports that Gauteng Hospitals have not run out of food. The department said it wants to put it on record that all other types of food are being served at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital (CHBAH).

Kwara Kekana, Spokesperson for MEC for Health said what they can confirm is that CHBAH and a few other facilities did experience a short supply of bread in the recent past.

“The organisation, Random Act of Kindness, that also reported that there was no food supply at the CHBAH hospital has since met with the facility management to help clarify to their situation.”

Kekana added that the problem of bread supply at the facility has since been resolved. Proper lines of communication have been established for better working relations moving forward”. She said the MEC Nomathemba Mokgethi will visit Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital on Friday.
