Eighty-nine more people died of Coronavirus in the country over the last 24 hours bringing the total deaths to 97 520. The country recorded 3 699 new Covid-19 cases.
The Department of Health reported that 38 370 active Covid -19 cases have been identified in South Africa. So far, 3 513 078 people in the country have recovered from covid-19 which translates to a 96.3% recovery rate. South Africa recorded 3 648 968 positive cases. So far, 22 762 177 tests have been conducted.
The health department conveyed condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thanked the health workers who treated the deceased.
People are urged to continue adhering to the health protocols put in place: washing hands with soap and water or alcohol-based sanitiser and always maintaining social distance.
