Three African males were arrested for theft and possession of 2100 litres of stolen diesel at Belfast on Friday.

The Belfast SAPS had a joint operation with Polsec (Security companies) patrolling around Belfast near Railway Station Street. They then noticed a Truck and a Bowser parked along the road and went to investigate as to what was happening.

Mpumalanga Police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the police discovered that the two drivers of the trucks and the bowser were draining diesel from the truck and the bowser to the tanks which were loaded on the trailer.

“Upon further investigation, it was discovered from the owners of the truck and the bowser that the two vehicles were not supposed to be around Belfast.”

The three suspects aged 22, 31 and 44 were immediately arrested for possession of the stolen property and will appear before the Belfast Magistrate’s Court on Monday  24 January 2022.

The Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Mpumalanga Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has applauded the members and the security companies for their vigilance and commitment to fighting crime.
