A 40-year-old alleged kidnapper and murderer is set to appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 04 January 2022 for allegedly killing a 26-year-old Sanda Dlamini of Shakashead. On 28 October 2021, Dlamini was reported missing by his partner when he didn’t return home.
Colonel Thembeka Mbele said the Umhlali police opened a missing person docket which was later changed to kidnapping after an intensive investigation.
Mbele further said the Ilembe District Task Team together with Umhlali detectives followed up information which led them to the Greytown area where the suspect was hiding.”On arrival at Greytown, they received news that the suspect relocated to Bizana in the Eastern Cape.” On 1 January 2022 the police proceeded to Bizana area where the suspect was located and questioned about Dlamini’s disappearance.
After a lengthy interrogation, the suspect agreed to take the police to the bushes along the R 614 where he allegedly buried Dlamini. “With the assistance of Umhlali Search and Rescue, the skeletal remains were found in the bushes. The suspect was then arrested and charged for kidnapping and murder.” Added Colonel Mbele.
It is alleged that the suspect kidnapped and killed Dlamini for dating his ex-fiancé.
