The Bethal Magistrate Court remanded Jamvier Ramazani (30)in custody after he was arrested on a warrant of arrest by the Hawks` Serious Organised Crime Investigation and Secunda Crime Intelligence on Tuesday for Car hijacking, dealing in drugs and conspiracy in dealing in drugs.
Captain Dineo Sekgotodi of Mpumalanga Hawks said information about outstanding wanted suspect on Major investigation Dream On –was followed and the suspect was traced and arrested at his hiding place in Emzinoni for dealing in drugs for the case which happened in June 2021 at Bethal. “There was an intelligence operation conducted in July 2021 where ten suspects were arrested and Ramazani evaded the arrest. During further investigation, the suspect was linked to another case of dealing in drugs which happened in May 2018 at Emzinoni.”
The suspect is also linked to the case of car hijacking which happened in July 2021 at Bethal.
Sekgotodi added that the car hijacking case is remanded to 04 January 2022 for further investigation and the drug-dealing case is remanded to 04 February 2022, to be joined with eight accused who were arrested in July but were released on bail with strict conditions. “Two were denied bail and remained in custody.”
The Acting Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Brigadier Ramakgoakgo applauded the team and the public for working together in the fight against drugs abuse within the community.
