North West ANC Women’s League says the murder of a 15-year-old girl, Tshegofatso Agnes Matibako from Lomanyaneng near Mahikeng is the last disrespect shown to the community and the deepest cutting pain on her family. Her decomposed body was discovered in the room she was reportedly renting with her boyfriend in Lomanyaneng.

North West ANC Womens’ league Acting Provincial Secretary Bitsa Lenkopane said all stakeholders need to build a stronger defence against this “agonizing misogynistic barbarism which has all the intentions to wipe all women out and ultimately the entire nation.”

The South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) in the North West on Tuesday condemned the chilling murder of a teenage girl. Chairperson of the civic organisation, Paul Sebegoe said that the horrendous crime points to abuse of underaged girl-children that is committed with impunity hence teenage pregnancies are on the rise.

Captain Sam Tselanyane of North West Police said Tshegofatso’s boyfriend, who is the last person to be seen with her, is reportedly a Lesotho National and also a person of interest in this matter. “His whereabouts and full identity are unknown at this stage.”

Tselanyane added that investigation into the matter continues and police request anyone who may have information regarding the whereabouts of this man, to contact the Investigating Officer, Detective Warrant Officer Molatlhegi Lechoenyo on 082 455 6078.
