Kidnappers arrested,4-year-old girl found unharmed

Four suspects will appear at the Durban Magistrates Court on Monday for kidnapping. A mother of a 4-year-old girl in Clairwood in KwaZulu-Natal, said whilst she was at work on Friday, 03 December 2021, she received a call from her neighbour informing her that she had seen an unknown man with her daughter leaving the area.

The mother indicated that the child’s father was in Malawi and it was impossible that he would be around to fetch the child.

Colonel Thembeka Mbele of KwaZulu-Natal police the complainant then requested the witness to look for the child as she was at work. “According to the victim’s friends they were playing at Dayal Road sports ground when an unknown man who was sitting not far from where they were playing called them to come nearer and play next to him. The victim responded to the man, went to him. They saw both the victim and the suspect walking away.”

Mbele added that a kidnapping case was opened at Brighton Beach SAPS. A search team was immediately formed and a search ensued.

“After an intensive investigation by the team the child was found at Q Section in Umlazi. The victim was found unharmed and reunited with her mother. It is further alleged that the suspects were going to leave to Nkandla to perform a ritual with the child.”
