The Durban High Court on Tuesday sentenced Sabatha Mbatha (30) and Sabelo Khuzwayo (24) to life imprisonment for murder.
On 18 December 2019, the police received a report of a shooting in Joe Slovo Street and Leopold Street and they proceeded to the scene. Upon arrival at the scene, they found Musawenkosi Mnyandu (60) who sustained gunshot wounds on the chest and stomach.
Colonel Thembeka Mbele of KwaZulu-Natal said another bystander who was a taxi driver was also shot and wounded. “Both victims were taken to hospital for medical attention and Mnyandu died on arrival at the hospital.”
Mbele further said charges of murder and attempted murder were opened for investigation.The two accused were then placed under arrest on charges of murder as well as unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. They were both tried in court until they were sentenced.
