South Africa records 3 220 new covid-19 cases

Eight more people died of Coronavirus in the country over the last 24 hours, bringing the total deaths to 89 791. The country recorded 3 220 new Covid-19 cases.

The Department of Health reported that 19 938 active Covid -19 cases have been identified in South Africa.

So far, 2 847 083 people in the country have recovered from covid-19 which translates to a 96.3% recovery rate.

Meanwhile, Minister of Health Joe Phaahla on Saturday said there is a possibility of an interprovincial travel ban this festive because of the high number of covid 19 cases.

The health department conveyed condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thanked the health workers who treated the deceased.

People are urged to continue adhering to the health protocols put in place: washing hands with soap and water or alcohol-based sanitiser and always maintain social distance.
