The Pietermaritzburg K9 Unit in the Mountain Rise policing area arrested two suspects aged between 40 and 47 for possession and dealing in counterfeit goods.
The police officers were following up information about suspects who were transporting counterfeit cigarettes on Willowton Road. They proceeded to the identified area where they spotted two vehicles.
Captain Nqobile Gwala of KwaZulu-Natal Police said the said vehicles were stopped and searched. “Upon searching the vehicles, police recovered 20 boxes of Pacific Blue cigarettes, three boxes of Remington Gold and grape flavoured cigarettes.”
Gwala added that three cellphones and two vehicles were seized from the suspects for further investigation. The suspects will appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrates Court on Monday 29 November 2021.
