Post Office robbers arrested

Four suspects were arrested after a robbery at Mokwakwaila post office in the Bolobedu policing area on Friday 25 November 2021.

It is alleged that a group of suspects stormed the said post office and attempted to hold the staff hostage. One employee managed to escape and the suspects withdrew and fled the scene. Police were notified and a Team comprised of Limpopo Highway Patrol, Tactical Response team, Limpopo Tracking team and the Tzaneen Tracing team was activated.

Limpopo Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said the suspects, travelling in a BMW sedan without registration numbers were arrested outside Tzaneen following a high-speed car chase with the police. “During the arrest, one firearm with 5 live rounds of ammunition, one cellphone and the getaway vehicle were confiscated.”

The suspects aged between 26 and 48 will appear in Bolobedu Magistrate’s Court on Monday 29 November 2021, on charges of business robbery, possession of unlawful firearm and ammunition and reckless driving.
