114 Covid-19 deaths in South Africa

One hundred and fourteen more people died of Coronavirus in the country over the last 24 hours, bringing the total deaths to 89 771. The country recorded 2 465 new Covid-19 cases.

The Department of Health reported that 18 768 active Covid -19 cases have been identified in South Africa.

So far, 2 843 961  people in the country have recovered from covid-19 which translates to a 96.3% recovery rate.

Meanwhile, a new Covid-19 variant known as B.1.1.529 was detected in Botswana. The four cases were detected among travellers who tested SARS-COV-2 positive on routine pre-travel testing.

The public is urged to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from Covid-19.

The health department conveyed condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thanked the health workers who treated the deceased.
