The Congress of South African Students (COSAS) says it has noted with dismay, the deliberate sabotage of Matric Examinations by the implementation of load-shedding during the course of examinations. Cosas is calling on Minister of Public Enterprise Pravin Gordan and Eskom Group Chhief Executive André de Ruyter to be fired. Nearly 900 000 matriculants started their National exams on Wednesday,27 Ootber 2021.
Cosas President Thabang Mokoena said De Ruyter is continually portraying maximum arrogance as he knows that the independent education sector does not depend on Eskom to keep their lights on. “He is eagerly focused on making darkness the block which deprives the black and marginalized masses of learners an opportunity to stay tuned and focused when writing their examinations.”
Cosas is calling upon all municipalities, especially the ANC run municipalities to defy and boycott any call which says there must be any sort of load-shedding in the country until our learners have completed their examinations.
“We continue to wish our learners well in their examinations, they must be free at all times as we assure them that we will defend them at all times.”
