The police officers from the Durban Flying Squad on Sunday received information from a tracking company about a vehicle that was hijacked in Pietermaritzburg.
The vehicle was reported to be travelling on the N3 freeway towards Durban. Captain Nqobile Gwala of KwaZulu-Natal said the vehicle was spotted and stopped near the M13 on-ramp. “With the assistance of the K9 Unit, four suspects aged between 19 and 25 were placed under arrest. Two knives were found inside the vehicle.”
Gwala added that the investigation revealed that the vehicle was hijacked at Sweetwaters in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday morning, 24 October 2021. The suspects are expected to appear before the Durban Magistrates Court on Monday for possession of a stolen vehicle.
