The North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management on Tuesday said it  has noted with concern fake appointment notices being circulated for the provision of physical security over a period of six months.

The letter claims that Ligit Security Solution has been appointed. The department’ spokesperson  Boitshoko Moremi put it on record that this is a scam and it is being used to potentially extort money from contractors.

Moremi added that a tender for physical security has been advertised and supply chain processes are currently underway to finalise an appointment.

“The Department would like to distance itself from an appointment of a service provider at this point and sends a stern warning to contractors to be vigilant against such scams.”

Moremi further said the Department sees this as a serious matter and steps are being taken to bring perpetrators to book.

“Victims of such malpractices and those who might have information are also encouraged to approach the police.”
