Ten people lost their lives and 60 left injured at Colenso in KwaZulu Natal on Tuesday when the Eldo bus, traveling from Durban to Johannesburg crashed on the N3 northbound close to the Bergville off-ramp.
Minister of Transport Fikile Mbalula said they are shocked and saddened by this tragic crash that has claimed so many lives.”This accident heightens their anxiety as we approach the festive season, leaving families with a have a heavy burden of burying loved ones lost in this tragic manner.”
Minister conveyed my heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased. “We remain steadfast in our commitment to work all stakeholders and road users in ensuring our roads are safe and those using them behave responsibly”.
The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) will be conducting a thorough investigation on the root causes of the crash.
