ActionSA President Herman Mashaba says today the criminal enterprise masquerading as a political party, the ANC, intends on electing a new Mayor in the City of Joburg at an extraordinary meeting of Council. “This is when the legislated Council term has all but ended.”
Former Joburg Mayor Jolidee Matongo passed away in a car accident two weeks ago.
Mashaba said the rush to install a new ANC Mayor and executive has nothing to do with servicing residents and is nothing more than an attempt to access taxpayer funds and use these in what will be a doomed election campaign.
“Today’s actions by the ANC will be an astounding act of political arrogance, placing the interests of politicians ahead of residents.”
Meanwhile, Chief Whip of the Democratic Alliance Natasha Mazzone said the ANC’s hiding of its Mayoral Candidates shows that the party takes voters for granted. “Openly presenting candidates, after rigorous internal selection processes, takes voters into the confidence of a party and presents voters a clear choice.
