The Investigating Directorate (ID) working with the members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) seconded to the ID arrested a suspect at the O.R Tambo International airport on Tuesday evening.
Investigating Directorate spokesperson Sindisiwe Seboka said the arrest is linked to money laundering of the proceeds from contracts that were improperly awarded by Transnet to Regiments Capital and Trillian as well as thefts by Regiments Fund Managers from the Transnet Second Defined Benefit Fund
The suspect was arrested before boarding an international flight to Dubai at 7 pm on Tuesday. He is expected to appear at the Palm Ridge Specialised Crimes Court on Wednesday, 29 September 2021.
