The Department of Health reported that 45 771 active Covid -19 cases have been identified in South Africa.
Two hundred and one more people died of Coronavirus in the country over the last 24 hours, bringing the total deaths to 87 417. The country recorded 1 367 new Covid-19 cases.
So far, 2 765 700 people in the country have recovered from covid-19 which translates to a 95.4% recovery rate.
The health department conveyed condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thanked the health workers who treated the deceased. People are urged to continue adhering to the health protocols put in place: washing hands with soap and water or alcohol-based sanitiser and always maintain social distance.
