The Department of Health reported that 52 682 active Covid -19 cases have been identified in South Africa.
Three hundred and twelve more people died of Coronavirus in the country over the last 24 hours, bringing the total deaths to 86 967. The country recorded 2 261 new Covid-19 cases.
So far, 2 756 693 people in the country have recovered from covid-19 which translates to a 95.2% recovery rate.
The health department conveyed condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thanked the health workers who treated the deceased. People are urged to continue adhering to the health protocols put in place: washing hands with soap and water or alcohol-based sanitiser and always maintain social distance.
