Former Warrant Officer found guilty of Corruption

The Polokwane Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Wednesday, 22 September 2021 convicted former Warrant Officer, Tlabo Ezekiel Maputla (53) convicted for corruption

Maputla was stationed at SAPS-Westernburg as a detective. He was arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation members in Polokwane on 13 October 2020 for extorting money from the person who was arrested for dealing in drugs in order to make his docket disappear.

Limpopo Hawks spokesperson Captain Matimba Maluleke said the victim paid R6000-00 in the past but Maputla kept on demanding more money until the matter was reported to the Hawks. “Maputla was netted in broad daylight at Polokwane city after receiving a further R5900-00  from the victim.”

He is currently out on R5000-00 bail and his case has been postponed to 12 November 2021 for sentencing.
