The Department of Health reported that 78 546 active Covid -19 cases have been identified in South Africa.
One hundred seventy-three more people died of Coronavirus in the country over the last 24 hours, bringing the total deaths to 85 952. The country recorded 3 648 new Covid-19 cases.
So far, 2 714 565 people in the country have recovered from covid-19 which translates to a 94% recovery rate.
The health department conveyed condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thanked the health workers who treated the deceased. People are urged to continue adhering to the health protocols put in place: washing hands with soap and water or alcohol-based sanitiser and always maintain social distance.
