NUM signed a 3-year wage agreement with Harmony Gold

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) on Thursday signed a 3-year wage agreement with Harmony Gold. The duration of this agreement shall be a period of 3 years from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2024 and shall remain in force and effect until amended or replaced by a new agreement.

NUM Acting General Secretary William Mabapa said Harmony Gold agreed to pay increases over the 3 years from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2024.

“Harmony Gold will provide female employees with 6 months paid maternity leave in terms of applicable policies and procedures.”

Mabapa added that Harmony Gold will provide male employees with 5 days paid leave and 5 days unpaid leave.“The NUM wishes to express its sincere gratitude to its members at Harmony Gold for how they behaved during the negotiation period until they gave us the mandate to sign this wage agreement”

He further said NUM members at Harmony Gold are excited that the wage agreement was concluded without any strike.
