Hawks members from Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation working together with Crime Intelligence arrested Nadaragen Chetty (58) for dealing in drugs.
An intelligence-driven operation was conducted at Mariannhill toll plaza after information was received about a suspect who was transporting drugs from Johannesburg to Durban.
Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo of Durban Hawks said they spotted the said vehicle and it was stopped. “A search was then conducted and ten packs of heroin powder to the street value of approximately R1.8 million were found concealed in the dashboard.”
Mhlongo said Chetty was arrested and charged for dealing in drugs. He appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and is remanded in custody. His case is postponed to 22 September 2021 for bail application.
