166 Covid-19 deaths

The Department of Health reported that 83 434 active Covid -19 cases have been identified in South Africa.

One hundred sixty- six more people died of Coronavirus in the country over the last 24 hours, bringing the total deaths to 85 468.The country recorded 4 667 new Covid-19 cases.

So far, 2 700 299 people in the country have recovered from covid-19.

The health department conveyed condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thanked the health workers who treated the deceased. People are urged to continue adhering to the health protocols put in place: washing hands with soap and water or alcohol-based sanitiser and always maintain social distance.

Meanwhile, Minister of Health, Dr. Joe Phaahla will on Friday, 17 September 2021, visit the Free State vaccination sites to monitor the province`s COVID-19 vaccine rollout programme.

Minister Phaahla will be joined by the Free State Premier, Sisi Ntombela and MEC for Health, Ms Montseng Tsiu on a site visit and walk-about at vaccination sites around the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality, and interact with health care workers.
