City Power is appealing to the members of the community to assist find criminals who stole a Mini-Substation outside a school in Fleurhof, Roodepoort.
The R500 000 Mini substation (MSS) was stolen at night last week by unknown people outside Fleurhof Secondary school.
City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena said this happened a day after the new substation was installed after the other one went faulty.He said they are appealing to the members of the community to assist them and the police to find the perpetrators. “The theft of our infrastructure including cables, substations doors, fuses, busbars, has become so brazen and the perpetrators are heavily armed in some instances,”
Mangena added that they ordered a new mini substation to be installed. For security reasons we have decided to move the mini substation from the location where it was stolen to around the school vicinity so that it’s visible to the school security.”
Anyone with information about the stolen transformer and the suspects is urged to call the nearest police or City Power Security Risk Management control room at 011 490 7900, 011 490 7911 or 011 490 7553.
